Hello again,
You have to check the ingredients of the bread - Most white breads shouldn't have anything bad in it, but stuff like wonderbread and that may have milk ingredients or maybe eggs or something.
Just check ingredients on bread packaging if you can. I've never had a problem in restaurants and stuff.
Cheers, Steph

Look for any milk products, and I suppose eggs if you said you had something with eggs. I am not sure about corn muffins, maybe someone else will know about this one. Cheers, --Steph

I thought corn muffins and corn meal were fine.

Yup corn, corn meal, corn muffins etc. are fine for most people. Again you're just looking at the ingredients for any triggers - dairy, eggs, artificial sweeteners like HFCS (high fructose corn syrup), too high fat, etc.

White bread and pasta are both fine as long as there is no dairy in the ingredients or egg yolks. Most pastas are fine, unless you get egg noodles, pasta is not made with egg yolk (at least the boxed stuff from the grocery store and most restuarants), bread you have to check for dairy most of the time, or ask in a restuarant to be on the safe side.
Cornmeal is fine, the problem with your muffin may be it may have dairy in it or too much fat.

If it doesn't have dairy, eggs, artificial sweetners I can eat, but if does I can't, is this the case? I don't know what artifical sweetners are, can I get a list of all the ones to avoid?

When you say dairy, what exactly should I check for to determine if I can eat the food? How much fat is too much.

Artifical Sweeteners *Sorbitol and mannitol (you can find this is some gums, candies, toothpastes) *Saccharin *aspartame (Nutrasweet) *sucralose (Splenda) A lot of products labeled "Diet" or "sugar free" contain artificial sweeteners.
Sugars: *High fructose corn syrup (this is a trigger for some people, not everybody--it's added to soda pop, candy, some breads and crackers, cookies, frozen dinner) *Lactose (milk sugar; a trigger for many IBSers) *Fructose (fruit sugar, not usually a trigger; but a few people are intolerant to it) *sucrose (table sugar is not a trigger; it's safe)
