I just tried soy milk the other day. I tasted pretty good, but within four hours I had gas, then the gurgles, then D. Tried again the next night at dinner and the same thing happened. I have noticed that a lot of people on this board use soy milk as a replacement for dairy. Anyone else have trouble with it?

You may be allergic to soy....try rice, almond, oat or hazelnut milk. Those are so yummy! Also, I have noticed that soy is very acidic, so that may be the problem too...Good luck!

I'll have to see if my grocery carries those. If not, the health food store surely has them. Would they be in the fridge section with the milk or are they shelf-safe?

I purchase my rice milk by the case at the health food stores (I get a case discount), but it's also in the regular grocery stores (cheaper at my health food store by $1.00 a box). Until you find a brand you like, only buy one at a time. They're in the aseptic boxes on the shelf. I use Rice Dream.

Hi - it could also be that your body is not used to soy and needs to adjust. More detail:web page
Or you can just go for the rice milk. That's what I usually drink. They also have rice soy combo drinks, but I've never tried them.

I cast my vote for Rice Dream, too. I use the "original" and I like it better than dairy milk! I've tried the "vanilla" flavor, too, but I prefer the regular on cereal, for cooking, etc. Rice Dream also makes "ice cream" which I like.
