I was told that I should have put this post here. So I will. If you read it already, sorry. I'm new.
My friends and fellow IBS'ers!
There is an enemy out there known as MSG and we need to limit as much as we can get. You may not be affected by MSG but it hits me like a train. Sadly, the federal government in the US has made no real attempts to notify the public of its presence and has actually allowed companies to use it under different names (The Bastards). For example, I decided that eating soyburgers and soyproducts by gardenburger would help me tremendously. Was I wrong! It turns out they all have "autolyzed yeast" which may contain MSG. I guess the big question I should ask is, "How do you get a soybean to taste like a hamburger and make it safe for IBS?" Maybe I'm completely wrong but I want everyone to read for themselves at
www.truthinlabeling.org
There is a great list of ingredients that have MSG and free glutamic acids which irritate many peoples IBS. Be careful what soy sauce you use because sometimes it is in there. I'm going to do more research on this and try to post as much as I can. As the wonderful Heather has pointed out, If we don't know if it is safe, we shouldn't eat it. Lots of luck! If you feel I'm way off base, please let me know. I would like to be as much in the know as possible.
Matt
