A lot of what i recommend is personal trial and error of products and i definetly try to figure out which type of ibs the cutomers have and go from there, the main issue with
products is that because i am in Canada alot of our products are not available in the states and vice versa.

For teas i recommend peppermint and fennel of course, but also ginger for those with nausea. We carry traditional medicinals brand that seems to work well, they also have tummy soothing blends and a nerve soothing blend for anxiety.

For fibre supplements i either recommned fibersmart by renew life, which i took before i started the acacia(which works even better for me now) or fiberrific, which is actually and inulin based product, but quite a few ibsers that i have met handle it much better than the psyllium their docs put them on originally.

For probiotics (so important) i recommend either natren friendly trio(pricey), all-flora by new chapter or primal defense by garden of life(which i have taken for 3 years now)take on an empty stomach, or if you always forget that rule buy enteric coated ones and then it won't matter. Jarrow is also good.

For digestive enzymes, which i find makes a world of difference once you find a good one, i recommend future formulations forte or enzymatic therapy megazyme, i suppose i would probably recommend digest gold if we carried the brand considering how the good reveiews are. Importnat thing about enzymes is that when taken with food they help you digest it, when taken on an empty stomach they help replenish your boaies enzyme banls and help your body function and heal, especially with inflammation, but be careful on an empty stomach as they can cause a burning sensation. I take 2 per meal and one per snack right now.

A good whole foods multi vitamin, not all vitamins are created the same. I finally found one i can tolerate, its called only one by new chapter, or they have theor every woman also which has added herbs. the alive multi by natures way is also great if your system can handle all of the wonderful yet plentiful ingredients.

A naturopath reccommended i add l-glutamine to my regimen and will be doing so soon, so that is also important for any inflammation or stress in the gut, supposed to take 3500 mg in divided doses she said for a few months then cut down.

oddly enough even those with D can benefit from amgnesium as most people are more deficient in magnesium than calcium and magnesium helps with cramping and spasms very well, get the citrate or gluconate, never the oxide and liquid is preferable. A few books i have read say to do mag at 300 mg 2xperday for 3 months then do a cal/mag so that you restore your mag depletion, pumpkin and sunflower seeds are great for magnesium and zinc.

Fish oil, sooooo important, i take o3mega + joy by genuine health as it is high epa and low dha to help with moods and since i am on anxiety meds, i chose that one, they have a whole line of fish oils and they are enterically coated so no fish burps occur.

DGL is a good recommendation for acid reflux and heart burn as it increases the mucus lining of the stomach and esophagus so that your body doesn't feel the burn of the acid, settle it down, but also doesn't stop digestion the way antacids do, they lead to big issues, i used to use them tons and it made everything worse to the point where prilosec did nothing.

Maca is worth a try of you have low energy, it tastes great and can help balance hormones and increase energy, but doesn't work for everyone, i have been taking it for a while but am switching to tryin mag-pot aspartates to see if that works better and can help alleviate my teeth grinding as well.

Protein powders are tricky, soy disagrees with most regular people as it is so heavy, hemp goes in green and come out green for me, but some people it works very well for, rice seems to be the safest option for touchy stomachs, we sell nutribiotic brand, which should be widely available.

Greens supplements while good for energy etc have so many ingredients that they scare me, the only one i would consider would be new chapters berry greens because it has no grasses in it, just fruits vegetables and probiotics.

As a last note, i am 23, female and ibs-c, used to be a before the probiotics, enzymes and fibre. Now pretty regular on acacia, but also taking cipralex after trying all natural methods possible to deal with anxiety and ocd associated with my ibs and phobia of germs and sickness, traditional chinese medicine was the most helpful for me as well as accupuncture. did hypno with a lady that had no effect, may try the cd's some day.I do not eat meat as i find it disagrees with me, i have recently readded fish to my diet which seems to be going well, otherwise i am vegetarian, but really need to gain some weight. oddly enough i tolerate nuts and such very well, even though they are high fat, i always recommend nut butter over the nuts as they are pre ground for your tummy all ready.

I take probiotic 3x day
enzymes when i eat(6 x per day)
Acacia 3 tsp 3 x per day
L-glutamine(starting soon)
Mag-pot aspartates (starting soon for energy and spasms)
Maca (stopping soon)
Multi vitamin
Fish oil capsules 1000mg for the day
Cipralex (my anxiety med)
Ginger tea when nauseous or candied ginger, yummy
Whew thats all, sounds like a lot and i need a little pill carrier since you take them all over the course of the day not all at once/

I also always encourage someone who thinks they have ibs to get the proper tests, even though recently it resulted in someone finding out that they have colon cancer. And i refer people to heathers site for diet info.

Ok i have rambled on long enough, let me know if you or nayone has anymore questions.
